This page explains what this site (ikasumi works) keeps, and what it doesn’t.
Maze Rush accounts
You can play practice without signing up. Ranked play is only for players who sign up with a name and a password. When you sign up, the site’s server (on Cloudflare) keeps:
- Your name (shown on the ranking and in the news ticker at the top)
- A hashed form of your password (the password itself is never stored)
- A hashed form of your recovery code (the code itself is never stored)
- Your rating and rank, how many ranked runs you’ve played, and your best ranking position
- Your streak (how many days in a row you’ve played ranked)
- For a ranked run in progress: the maze seed and start time (deleted when the run ends)
- How many times in a row a wrong password or recovery code was entered, and when the last one was (to lock logins and recovery for 15 minutes after 10 tries)
- When you signed up, and the times needed to enforce the rules (such as one ranked start every 10 seconds): your last start, when you reached your current rating, and the last day you played
When a ranked run ends, your moves in the maze (up, down, left, right, and when you used items) are sent to the server. The server replays them step by step to recount your clears. The moves themselves are not stored. The ranking and the news ticker only show your name, rank, rating and position.
Records used to improve the game
For each ranked run, we keep the date, the starting level, the number of clears, how long it lasted, and how many items were used. These records don’t say who played, and they’re deleted after 30 days. We also count, per day, how many people played, how many runs were started, and how many people signed up (numbers only).
What we don’t keep
- Email address, real name, address, or phone number
- IP addresses (this site doesn’t store them)
To stop the same person from sending too many requests in a short time, a Cloudflare feature may count requests per IP address.
Login cookie
While you’re logged in, your browser keeps a login cookie (a random string used only by this site). It lasts 30 days and is extended when you play. Logging out removes it from both your browser and the server. The server only stores a hashed form of it.
If you forget your password
We don’t ask for your email, so we can’t reset passwords by email. Instead, the recovery code shown once when you sign up lets you set a new password. If you lose the recovery code too, the account can’t be recovered.
Deleting your account
Log in to Maze Rush, open Settings, choose “Delete account” and enter your password. Your name, password, rating and rank, ranking record, your name in the news ticker, and your login cookie are all deleted. The anonymous run records and daily counts described above stay, because they can’t be linked to you.
Stored only in your browser
Your sound, look, effects and language settings, and your practice best, are kept only in your browser’s storage (localStorage). Clearing your browser’s site data removes them.
Outside services
- The site is hosted on Cloudflare (Cloudflare Pages). When you load a page, Cloudflare may handle your IP address and similar data as part of its network logs. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy for details.
- Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts. Your browser downloads the font data from Google’s servers.
- There are no ads or analytics tools for now. If that changes, this page will be updated first.
